Life Saving Chaplaincy Australia (LSCA) was founded in 1995 by Terry Legg with the mission of serving all lifesavers and their families across Australia. This initiative was unique and groundbreaking as Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) became the first sports governing body to endorse chaplaincy at the 1998 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
Our organisation until 2024 was affiliated with Sports Chaplaincy Australia (SCA), now operating with it's own governing body, providing accredited and trained chaplains to lifesaving communities throughout the country.
Our chaplains are dedicated volunteers who offer pastoral care, emotional support, and assistance in navigating grief, loss, and other personal challenges. They play a crucial role in fostering a caring and supportive community within lifesaving clubs.
At LSCA, our goal is to enrich the lives of all those involved in lifesaving by providing holistic support that enhances their overall well-being. Our chaplains are trained to offer a wide range of services including personal support, crisis management, and community building activities, ensuring that every club member has access to a safe and caring person in times of need.
Our commitment extends beyond just pastoral care; we aim to build strong, healthy communities by offering sustainable care strategies and helping individuals and clubs achieve new levels of performance both on and off the beach.
